Kristmas Kid's Krafts!

Okay so I spent my Saturday night babysitting with one of my favorite families. It was packed full of fun! Here are two things we did that are super fun and easy for kids of all ages:

Peppermint Sweet and Salty Pretzels:

Supplies: Bag of mini pretzels, large bar of white candy coating (baking section), peppermint candies, wax paper, silverware, Ziploc bags

1.Give each child some peppermint candies (got mine at the dollar store) and spend some fun time unwrapping them:)
2. Put into Ziploc sandwich bags put a towel underneath (or table cloth), hand each kid a sturdy spoon and let em take a whack at the bag to crunch up into little pieces.
3. As they are doing this (you may want ear plugs) lay out wax paper and pretzels in a different area.
4. Put white candy coating in a bowl and warm for about 1 minute, stir with a spoon and add a spoon for each kid in the bowl.
5. Then let the kids take a spoon and drizzle candy coating all over!
6. Last step is reaching into the peppermint candy crunch bags and sprinkling all over the pretzels.
Let cool and brake up as you store pretzels in a bag or a bunch of small bags for friends as gifts:)
This has a fun messy and loud aspect to it for kids, without paying too much detail to frosting specific cut outs. Quick, easy, fun, messy but easy clean up!

Jesus is the "light" of the world finger painting:

Supplies: white computer paper, black construction paper, sharpie (or black marker), different colored washable finger paints (again dollar store!), glue

Kindergarten

3rd grade

4yrs old

1. First put a mat or wax paper mat under each child (may want to change clothing)
2. Give each child a black paper and a white paper, instruct them to put a dot of glue (a dot is a lot!) in each corner of the black paper then press on white paper.
3. Model how to draw a squiggly line from one side of the paper to the other (the string for the lights!).
4. Remind them different is good!
5. Give each child small dots of different finger paint reminding them not to mix colors (use a different finger for each color!), and model how to make a dot above and below the string for the lights.
6. May want to allow to dry before the next part.
7. Next, have kids write their names in the bottom corner.
8. Model how to write "Jesus is the light of the world!" at the top of the paper (some kids will need to refer to yours to write and others may not need a model).
9. Put of the fridge or in a frame and enjoy for Christmases to come reminding everyone in the house the reason for the season:)
Peace and love xoxox
